The 5 Best Books for a Goosebumps Birthday Present

It’s that time of year again. It is your girlfriend’s (or boyfriend’s, friend’s, family member’s, lover’s, coworker’s, etc…) special day coming soon and you are just scratching your head, agonizing over what to buy them for a present. You have thought long and hard about what item will put a smile on their face when they finally tear that last piece of wrapping paper from it.

It just so happens that I have a list of the perfect presents you can buy that special someone… well, provided they like horror… and reading… and Goosebumps… oh, and that they do not already own these books.

This is a list of Goosebumps books that either feature a birthday or have birthdays as the theme. No spoilers here! Just in case you want to treat yourself for your birthday. Only quick summaries about what you can expect from the book.

In this book which the title may have been a spoof of the chorus of the 1981 song Physical, Max discovers a type of magical mirror in the attic on his birthday. It has the potential to make him invisible. So Max and his pals, Erin, Noah, Zack and April, begin to play now you see me, now you don’t.

That is until Max notices he’s losing control. Staying unnoticed for far too long. Having a difficult time returning visible again. Making yourself invisible is becoming a deadly game. Will the next time Max becomes invisible again… be forever?

Tara the Terrible is what Michael Webster calls his brattish younger sister. She enjoys pranking her older brother, and getting Michael into much mischief. She makes his life a living hell.

Things couldn’t possibly be much worse. Mr Webster then brings home an old cuckoo clock. It’s very old and has a hefty price tag on it. None of the kids are allowed to touch it. However, Michael wants revenge on Tara. But he should’ve listened to his father a curse was on the clock.

Michael finds himself regressing physically in age, but with his same 12-year-old mind! Will he find a way to return back to the present, or will he find himself out of existence?

So when the kids in the family start to fight over Slappy, they soon come to realise that the power struggle is not between them fighting over who gets to play with the dummy – but all of them will be fighting against Slappy who wants to be puppet-master of them all!

Your parents must work on your birthday. They hire a bizarre performer named Dr. MacDeath (which in no way gives us images of a spooky Ronald MacDonald!) to give you a horror-themed birthday party, but he quickly reveals himself to be malicious, turning one of your pals into a balloon animal.

Nailing all of the doors in your house shut, he squashes your chance of escape! He then compels you to cut your birthday cake, which turns out to be riddled with bugs and worms. You then must select whether to play party games or open gifts. Choose wisely!

Will you survive the party games that Dr. MacDeath (who does not play fair) plans for you? Or will opening the presents make this birthday your last? There are 22 possible endings in this Give Yourself Goosebumps – will you pick the right choices, or will you face an end as terrifying as the book cover suggests?!
